Built across generations.

What we build is shaped by the places, principles and responsibilities we inherit from one generation to the next.

Development begins with understanding a place before changing it. Our aim is to build something of lasting value for the people and communities who will use it.

We turn that responsibility into practice through four commitments that guide every step of how we plan, build, and contribute.

our approach

01

Quality

Create places of lasting value for the people who live in them and the neighborhoods around them.

Community

Design for connection, belonging, and stronger relationships between people and place.

Sustainability

Work toward outcomes that leave places healthier, more resilient, and better prepared for the future.

Innovation

Keep questioning the obvious and finding better ways to build without compromising our standards.

02

our story

LEGADO's story began more than sixty years ago, when founder Jan Czuker broke ground on his first development in Southern California. What began with one project grew into a family enterprise shaped by decades of building, operating, and learning from the places it creates.

Today, Jan's son, Edward M. Czuker, leads LEGADO into its next generation, preserving the standards that shaped the family enterprise while continuing to evolve how the company develops, owns, and operates.

From one project to a family enterprise, each milestone marks another chapter in a story still being built.

LEGADO Founded

The enterprise consolidates decades of work under the LEGADO name.

Every development becomes part of the life around it. Our responsibility extends beyond the property line to the relationships, histories, and environments each project enters.

Beyond the blueprint.

OUR APPROACH

Respecting the land.

Every site enters a history that began before us. We approach that history as something to understand, not overwrite, considering the cultural and environmental character of a place before deciding how our work should respond to it. Where Indigenous histories and communities are part of that context, accuracy, respect, and appropriate engagement matter.

Responsible leadership.

Responsible leadership means remaining accountable for the consequences of the choices we make, including our responsibilities to partners, residents, neighbors, and the communities around our work. Trust is earned through clarity, follow-through, and the willingness to remain answerable over time.

03Our Leadership

A legacy of considered decisions.

The next sixty years will ask different things of LEGADO than the last. Markets change. Communities change. The ways people live, work, and use space change with them. Our task is not to preserve a formula, but to carry forward the judgment behind it, knowing what should endure and where the work needs to evolve.
